Local macOS app

BruhBoard is a local macOS menu bar app. In V1, the app does not include analytics, account login, cloud sync, or remote usage reporting.

Input Monitoring

macOS Input Monitoring permission is needed because the app reacts to keyboard input outside its own window. The app uses this permission for local sound playback and the emergency mute shortcut.

For normal keyboard-triggered sounds, BruhBoard uses keyDown occurrence signals. For the emergency mute shortcut, the app transiently checks the key event information necessary to detect Option + Command + M.

BruhBoard does not collect, store, log, display, analyze, or transmit typed text, typed characters, key history, focused app names, focused window titles, or shortcut detection data.

Keyboard data BruhBoard does not collect:

  • Typed text or typed characters
  • Key history or typing analytics
  • Focused app names or focused window titles
  • Shortcut detection data

The app is designed as a local sound toy, not a keyboard logger.

Payments and license delivery

Payment information is handled by Polar checkout, not by the BruhBoard app.

The app does not contain payment credentials, API tokens, webhook secrets, or private signing keys.

Polar issues license keys automatically after checkout. BruhBoard may contact Polar License Keys to activate and check your license.

License activation is separate from keyboard input. BruhBoard does not send typed text, key events, sound choices, or focused app/window information during license checks.

The app download is served from the BruhBoard website as a signed and notarized Mac DMG.
